The highly anticipated Batman and Robin: Year One by @markwaidwriter and @chrissamnee is set to kick off in October, and here we have a fantastic variant cover for issue 1 by @janinmikel which pays homage to the classic golden age cover for Batman 9!
As many art collectors are already aware, the vast majority of Mikel's artwork is created digitally. This is one of the rare exceptions!
The original artwork for this cover is rendered in pencil, inks, inkwash and markers, and is one of a small handful of covers (less than 5 in total) that have been rendered traditionally since Batman 49 and 50 hit stands over six years ago.
